The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an important notice to students, parents, and the general public regarding the awarding of fake degrees. The Commission warned students against the institutions offering degrees in violation of the provisions outlined in the UGC Act.
The UGC emphasised that only universities or institutions established under a State Act, Central Act, or Provincial Act, or those empowered to confer degrees as per the UGC Act, 1956, are authorized to grant degrees.
The commission stated that degrees awarded by such institutions will not be recognized or valid for higher education or employment purposes.
“It has come to the notice of UGC that a number of institutions are offering degrees in contrary to the provision of the UGC Act. Degrees awarded by such universities/institutions shall neither be recognized nor valid for higher education and employment purposes,” stated the official notice.
